Defeated By Negative Mindset

Have you had days where the simplest problems snow ball your day into total chaos? By the end of the day you are totally frustrated and exhausted. You are ready to throw in the towel. By mid day you are saying to yourself " I am just going to get through this day and start over tomorrow". But by the end of the day you start looking back and you realize that the few simple problems could have easily been fixed or solved and you would have created a a better outcome to your day. Now you are really annoyed because you know all of this was avoidable if you would have changed your mindset or pivoted your way of thinking. How do you do this?

Yesterday was exactly one of those days for me. The morning threw a bunch of unexpected set backs at me. I was well on my way to having a day dominated by a negative outlook. Instead of succumbing to this negative mindset I pivoted and told myself " All of this is a test and what do you need to do to pass this test"?

#1 - Change my mindset and tell myself "You just need to roll with it for right now"

#2 - Get into problem solving mode. All these issues can be solved or fixed through time and patience.

#3 - BREATHE!!!!

#4 - What can I do to decompress at some point in time today? Go for a run at lunch time.

It was these four steps that saved my day. None of these step where or are complicated, but that does not mean they are easy to do. Negativity is a strong enemy that is not easily defeated. It takes determination, dedication and humility to pivot away from a negative mindset. We all have the ability to do this, but it takes practice. In other words "YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK"

So next time you are going through a day like this. Remember you hold the power to change the out come. You may not be able to control the issues and problems, but you do control how you react to them.
