Recharging

How is your week going so far? This has been a good week so far. Feeling a little recharge this week. It is always really cool when you get those mental, emotional and physical recharge feelings. You can actually physically feel it happening. It's hard to explain or put words to it, but it's a deep physical feeling that goes all the way through you. To the core of you.

"Without regular time spent outdoors, we can lose touch with the default state of open awareness. By reconnecting with nature, we familiarize ourselves with this other aspect of what it means to be human. This is a big part of what draws people to green exercise. Outdoors, it is possible to rediscover a self that is not solely defined by your roles and relationships with others, or by your past. You are free to be a self that is in motion, attuned to the present moment, and open to what the world has to offer." The Joy of Movement, Kelly McGonical, PhD

When I read this paragraph I was so happy that I re-read it two more times. This is exactly what happens to me when I am trail running in the woods. All three phases of emotional, mental and physical all become one. All the trials and tribulations that I carry throughout the day kind of disappear for a while. They do not completely disappear, but they become quieter and less obtrusive. This allows for a calmer way of thinking and reflecting. Trail running within nature's surroundings allows for me to change my point of reference. I have a clearer vision of what is really going on around me and within me. I start to realize that nothing is as bad or great as I may think it is. It allows the thoughts that can control me to slip away, at the same time allowing the self control over those thoughts to become stronger. It is a freedom from the perceived me to allow the freedom of the real me to come through.

This has become a purposeful need in my life and my hope is that everyone of you can find this same feeling outside in the place you find your recharge.

As always your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
