Dress for Success

How is everyone doing today? I hope you all had a great weekend and are enjoying the holiday season. I know my kids are happy to be off school for the next two weeks for winter break. I'm pretty sure all the teachers that came to the gym are just as happy as well.

Have you ever heard the phrase "Dresses For Success"? Some people truly believe in this phrase, but the question they should be asking themselves is "Have I done the work in order to dress for success". When I was younger I dealt with a lot of personal insecurities. I would mask those insecurities by dressing the part or trying to dress the part. The problem with it though was those insecurities never went away no matter how much I tried to cover them up with the "Right Look". It wasn't till I understood that in order to get rid of these insecurities I needed to do the work before I could dress for success. I needed to earn the strength to get over my insecurities. I see a lot of this these days. Buy the new shoes or buy the new clothes and go straight to the finishing line and supposedly win. There is no commitment and no true success when you adopt this type of mentality. All you have created is a house of cards that will eventually fall apart all around you. Too often the magic pill syndrome comes into play for far too many people. You can not just dress the part and think all will be good because eventually the lack of true real commitment will show through. You have to do the work in order to earn success.

Thanks for reading and as always your thoughts and comments are always welcome.
